Do Good & Send Joy Through the Mail with Rapahope

Something in Common

Unfortunately, one of the things most, if not all, of us have in common is that we know someone who has been impacted by cancer. In fact, many of us have likely lost loved ones to this indiscriminate disease (I have - my grandmother to brain cancer) or know someone who has fought or is fighting cancer right now (I do - friends and family with breast cancer, skin cancer, brain cancer, esophageal cancer and different forms of leukemia).

If you've walked this journey with someone or have witnessed such a journey, then you know it impacts the whole family - both patients and the caregivers. Even more so when the one diagnosed and fighting for their life is a child. It's a tough battle, and no one wants or needs to fight alone. And here's where local non-profit Rapahope comes in.

Rapahope

Rapahope is an organization that joins families in the fight by bringing joy and providing year-round opportunities to children diagnosed with cancer to participate in fun, adventure-filled retreats and experiences free of charge. To raise money to cover the cost of these experiences, Rapahope Children's Retreat Foundation conducts several fundraisers throughout the year. One of these is a favorite of mine: the Turkey Trot for Hope, a Thanksgiving Day tradition for many Mobilians. Another is their annual Holiday Card Mail Out.

A Rapahope Christmas

This year, however, with the rise in popularity of DIY-type holiday card templates where families can download a digital design, add their photos and text, then print at their convenience, Rapahope decided to add this option to their fundraiser as well. And I am pleased as punch to be the host website for the Rapahope 2023 holiday card template (digital download).

THE 2023 RAPAHOPE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD HOLIDAY CARD

Both the physical cards and the digital version feature artwork by Rapahope campers and a little sprinkle of graphic design magic by yours truly. The artwork represented on the cards this year I was privileged to see made in person by some pretty amazing kids. I was invited out to Camp Rapahope to volunteer at the arts and crafts table for the day by my friend and board member Claire Harmon. We worked side by side and she, along with another friend and Assistant Director Roz Dorsett, shared more about Rapahope's mission with me. The atmosphere of this place is truly incredible, and I left wanting to be part of what Rapahope is doing for children and families in various stages of navigating their cancer journey.

Partner with Rapahope this Holiday Season

There are many ways you can partner with Rapahope, but during the holidays, the best way is by supporting their Holiday Card Fundraising Event because, whether it's through mail outs, enclosure cards, or going the DIY route with the digital download, everyone who receives one of these cards from you gets introduced to the good that this incredible organization is doing.

For those interested, the digital download card template is fully customizable on both the front and back sides of the design. Once purchased, you will be sent a link to download and edit. The editing site is super user-friendly and allows you to change fonts, messaging, color ways, and add your own photos. Once you're happy with your design, save it in the file format of your choice and print at your convenience. For local printing, I recommend Print King on Dauphin Street, but you can print from online companies like VistaPrint and Shutterfly as well.

100% of your purchase is a donation that goes directly to the children and families of Rapahope.
